Shift struggles at the register

Ever feel like you’re just racing against the clock while scanning? Yesterday, I managed to ring up 150 customers in a 6-hour shift, but by the end, I was so frazzled I almost forgot to give change back. How do you all keep pace without losing your mind?

I totally get the racing feeling! One trick that helps me stay focused is to keep a steady rhythm — like a small mantra in my head as I scan. It helps me not to rush and prevents those slip-ups, like forgetting change. Do you ever find yourself zoning out during busy hours?

I hear you! It’s like trying to juggle while running a marathon. One thing that keeps me grounded is taking a deep breath before each customer — it really clears the mind.

It can feel like you’re dodging bullets at times! One thing I do is set small goals, like focusing on each customer separately instead of the overall count. You might feel a bit less like you’re in a race and more like you’re just playing your part.
